Order-to-cash

Definition

Order-to-cash is the process from the moment a customer places an order until payment comes in: order processing, delivery, invoicing and collection. It's the part of the broader quote-to-cash cycle that starts once the customer decides to buy.

From order to paid invoice

After the order come stock reservation, shipping, invoicing and following up on payment. Any break in that chain, such as an invoice sent too late, delays payment.

Why automation matters here

A connected ERP and web shop lets every step run automatically: the order triggers invoicing as soon as delivery is confirmed, without anyone starting that manually.

Practical example

A customer orders online. As soon as the package leaves the warehouse, the system automatically generates the invoice and sends it via Peppol.
