M-commerce

Definition

M-commerce, or mobile commerce, is buying and selling products via smartphone or tablet. For B2B buyers, this means placing an order or following up on a quote on the go or on the shop floor, without sitting at a desktop computer.

Placing business orders from the floor or on the road

B2B buyers aren't always at a computer. A sales rep standing with a customer, or a warehouse worker who needs to reorder quickly, often does that from a phone.

Responsive versus native

Most B2B web shops handle m-commerce with a responsive design that adapts to any screen, instead of building and maintaining a separate native app.

Practical example

A technician reorders parts from their phone while on-site with a customer, seeing the same customer-specific prices as they would in the office.
